Apples of My Pie

We knew there were apple trees on the farm, but we didn’t have much hope for them because they look like they haven’t been pruned or tended in any way in more than a decade, but we were excited when apples actually started ripening.

Most of the apples were too high to pick by hand because the tree was left untended for so long. All the good apples were midway or more up the tree. Lucky for us that the previous farm owners left us this cool “basket on a pole thing” that works great to grab apples from the taller branches. We chose a bucket so that when it’s full, we should be able to put together enough for a pie. Who knew you only needed 4 or 5 apples for a pie?

So yummy!
